EQUIPMENT AND GUIDELINES
Please be sure to read through this page for all necessary info for your skater
EQUIPMENT
- Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, and ADV CanSkate - CSA Approved Hockey Helmets are MANDATORY. No Exceptions. Bicycle and ski helmets are not permitted.
- CANSKATE AND STARSKATE PROGRAMS - Dress in layers, no jeans or scarves. No Snowsuits or Big Coats- They restrict movement.
- PRE-CANSKATE – snowsuits and big coats are suggested for padding and warmth. No jeans or scarves
- ALL SKATERS - Must wear mitts or gloves. Nylon material is best. Wool sticks to the ice.
- Skates for CanSkate and Pre-CanSkate – Best skates are leather figure skates or hockey skates. Plastic skates do not have proper support to assist your toddler with balance ****Skates do not come sharpened(even if they say they do) Please get skates sharpened prior to first class.
- Skates for Adv Can And StarSkate – Leather figure skates are necessary. Must have picks. All skates should be sharpened at Pro Skate(west and south end) or United Cycle (gateway blvd
EQUIPMENT CARE & TIPS:
- NEVER store skates with hard guards on. Store wrapped in towel or soft guards. Always dry blades thoroughly before storing
- Skates are not like shoes. You need to buy the right size to assure proper support. No more than a finger should fit behind heel with toes pushed to front
- Please do not tie skates around the ankle! Double bow to get rid of excess lace
- Rec Skates that say they come sharpened, do not have a proper sharpening. Please get skates sharpened before first skate

RULES AND GUIDELINES
To ensure safety and enjoyment for all members it is important for all members to follow the following guidelines
- For the safety, productivity and enjoyment of all, un-sportsmanlike behavior or undesirable language will not be tolerated.
- Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate - Skaters are expected to stay with their assigned group at all times unless given permission from a Club Coach to leave group.
- For Safety, Skaters must notify a Coach before leaving the ice for any reason.
- Parents are asked to observe Skating Sessions from the bleachers. No parent coaching allowed.
- No food, gum, or sugar drinks permitted on the ice.
